Piper Aircraft, founded in the 1930s by William Piper, the "Henry Ford of Aviation," is an established icon in Vero Beach. West of Vero Beach in Indian River County, discover Blue Cypress Lake, a 6,514 acre shallow lake in the 52,671 acre Blue Cypress Conservation Area, which is controlled by the St. Johns River Water Management District and the Army Corps of Engineers.
